MISSION:
To empower low-income families toward spiritual and economic stability through the provision of decent, safe and affordable rental property.

 

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
NHOM, Inc. is a faith based organization in partnership with Memphis Leadership Foundation. In the Caldwell/Manassas community, they have built fifteen (15) single family units, rehabbed 2 units and acquired a single family unit in the St. Elmo subdivision. NHO Management, Inc. developed a 52-unit apartment community at 3995 North Watkins in Frayser. They strive to have 100% occupancy, offering quality housing for competetively low monthly rents. The affordable rental units are managed by NHOM staff.

HISTORY:
NHO Management, Inc. (NHOM) was founded through Neighborhood Housing Opportunities (NHO) and in partnership with the Memphis Leadership Foundation (MLF). NHOM, Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)-(3) tax exempt organization in March 1998.

 

SERVICES:

CONSTRUCTION: NHOM is committed to building and rehabbing 10-12 homes a year. Our contractor is NHO who has be building homes since 1989, and has a proven track record for the construction of homes for low- and moderate-income families. NHO has built almost 250 affordable homes and assisted numberous families through their counseling program. Note: NHO is a general contractor in the state of Tennessee.

COUNSELING: NHOM utilizes NHO’s counseling component, which offers pre-purchase counseling and follow-up homeownership counseling that spans three years. The counseling piece works in tandem with local lending institutions to help prepare potential homebuyers for homeownership. It also provides basic stewardship principal of retiring debts and building assets.

SOWERS: In the spring of 2002, NHO created a ministry for single women (and married) who are head of the household. SOWERS, an acronym for Stewardship Opportunities Which Empower and Re-invents Self-worth targets single women with low- and moderate- incomes who are at risk of becoming targets for negative relationships due to financial strains and other needs; it also assist these families in budgeting, family and financial planning. NHOM encourages all of our families to take part in this program.
